Hummingbird International School is a small, well-resourced primary school that opened in January 2025. The school provides a rigorous curriculum and has a strong focus on active learning and creativity.

We are growing and so are seeking candidates for the following positions:
1. Primary class teachers for Key Stage 1 & 2. (2 positions)
2. Two trainee class assistant teachers (2 positions).

Role Description
These are full-time roles located in Buziga, Kampala – Uganda. The Primary Class Teacher will be responsible for planning and teaching the range of primary subject areas, including Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities, Design & Technology and Art.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Post Graduate Certificate in Education
  • Knowledge of UK curriculum structure and teaching approaches
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills
  • Excellent classroom management abilities

Applications from fresh graduates are welcome for the trainee class assistant positions.

Please note that the class teacher should be able to teach all main subjects: English, maths, humanities, art and design & technology. Please do not apply if you are a subject teacher e.g. maths only.

The successful candidates will be graduates who have a love of learning, boundless curiosity and should be ready to put in the hours as there is a lot to absorb and do.

Knowledge or experience of the UK curriculum- Cambridge or Edexcel – is a distinct advantage for the class teacher position, but the ability to engage children and teach effectively is more so. Curriculum knowledge can and will be added.
