THE EARLY YEARS CURRICULUM

The Early Years Centre caters to children from 3-5 years (Kindergarten and Reception Class). The Cambridge Early Years Programme (EYFS) forms the basis of a curriculum designed to optimize interaction, exploration and expression.

We place great emphasis on preparing your young child for early success in learning through assessing their current stage of development, planning for differentiated learning and tracking progress.

The Early Years Curriculum consists of two main learning areas. The prime areas refer to the general areas of development that underpin learning and the wellbeing of a child.

Prime Areas

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development

Specific Areas

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design.

The children learn largely through play, interaction and investigation. Communication and language development are extremely important to early development and to support this, we have screen-free early years centre.
